Movie Review – Step Brothers (2008) – 3.5 Stars
It’s both a strength and a weakness for Will Ferrell that he gets most of his laughs as part of a team. His ability to play off other actors is great in his group pieces like ‘Old School’ and ‘Blades of Glory’, but he seems not to be at 100% on his own like in ‘Talladega Nights’. This isn’t a problem, though. Mugatu in ‘Zoolander’ is one of the greatest comic villains of all time. And in ‘Step Brothers’, he and John C. Reilly work brilliantly together. It’s silly, it’s funny, and a little familiar to a lot of us.
